I would like to start off by saying that this past week has been one of the best I’ve lived in my entire life. As most of you know we had two gigs, one at my old church in Tucker and another at Eddie’s Attic on the 4th of July.
The one at my (Lydia) old church was lovely and humbling. We were playing for the youth group there and they blessed us beyond belief with their energy and amazing sense of community and humor.
At Eddie’s Attic we were playing at the Open Mic Night. It’s set up as a battle of the bands, every singer/songwriter has 10 minutes to play 2 original songs. At the end of the night, 3 groups are picked to play a third song and one gets a prize at the end of the night.
To our shock and surprise, we made it into the top 3 and got to play a third song.
We should have live recordings and videos up this week!
After the show we met some incredible musicians named Paul Baker and his best friend James. We (FF, Paul and James, and the crew) went out to the gazebo in Decatur Square and started jamming together. We started around 9:30 and left the place at 12:30.
We were joined by some locals who heard us playing, there was a circle of dancing girls around us requesting songs, and this awesome couple that filmed the entire jam session (and offered to be our body guards).
That night we all crashed at Wes’ aunt’s house in Decatur and woke up to doughnuts and coffee! We’re now back in Statesboro working on some new songs that spurred from the week.
AND THAT’S NOT ALL!!!!!
We have AWESOME news that we will tell you tomorrow along with pictures and videos from the week very soon.
I love you all dearly!
