Who: Finnagin’s Father
Song: Ride On
Why You’ll Love This: Finding music with true depth is such a crapshoot throughout the cacophonous wasteland of contemporary dissonant drek. But once in a great while, call it random chance or absurd happenstance, you happen to get lucky and find something more than special. That’s Finnagin’s Father, a stripped down, smoky mountain folk band with the uncanny ability to peel back the layers of pessimistic perception while gently caressing the heartstrings of your weary, downtrodden cerebellum.
Like gazing at the rumpled still-frame photographs of the forgotten yesteryear, their music is both unsettling and calming at once. This particular song (A demo!) takes the standard perception of folk-based Americana and puts a mysterious, reverbed magnet into it that grabs you like cold hand from the dead of night. Finnagin’s Father makes music that will challenge your vision of the world that surrounds us. This is music that needs to be heard, this is music that matters.
